Authentic Teriyaki Chicken Bowl – Easy & Flavorful!

This Teriyaki Chicken Bowl is a perfect combination of juicy chicken glazed in a rich, homemade teriyaki sauce, served over a bed of fluffy rice with fresh vegetables. Ingredients
  

  • For the Chicken:
  • 1 ½ lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs (or chicken breasts, sliced)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or sesame oil for extra flavor
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • For the Teriyaki Sauce:
  • ½ cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • ¼ cup honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water slurry
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger minced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • For Serving:
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice or brown rice
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • ½ cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Prepare the Sauce
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water).
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Step 2: Cook the Chicken
  • Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil.
  • Season the chicken with salt and black pepper and place it in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked.
  • Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the chicken and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, ensuring the chicken is well coated.
  • Remove from heat and let the chicken rest for 2 minutes, then slice into strips.
  • Step 3: Assemble the Bowl
  • In serving bowls, add a base of steamed rice.
  • Top with sliced teriyaki chicken, steamed broccoli, shredded carrots, and sliced bell peppers.
  • Drizzle extra teriyaki sauce over the top.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  • Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!

Substitutions: Use tofu or shrimp instead of chicken for variations.
